Global Athletes Aces Axed Salaries as Pay Cut Hits alongwith COVID19

COVID19Pandemic : Globally there are  8,96,540 cases of Coronavirus.

110 biggest and most cash rich international sports leagues are either postponed or called off. The major sporting events are Tokyo Olympics 2020 that is now Tokyo 2021 and Wimbledon. Wimbledon is postponed for the second time after World War 2.

To fight the novel Coronavirus Pandemic, international sports athletes, clubs and boards are doing their bit to help & support the state of emergency. Here is a list of clubs, athletes and players who are suffering pay cuts to help the economy;

1. Juventus Players and coaching staff – 50% paycut

2. Diego Simeone, manager of Atletico Madrid – 70% paycut

3. Non playing directors and employees of Tottenham Hotspur – 20% paycut

4. Bayern and Dortmund players – 20% paycut

5. Birmingham City to cut 50% of those earning more than US$ 7100

6. Nascar to cut 25% of employees earning more than US$75000

7. Leicester Tigers, Harlequins, Gloucester, Saracens, Wasps and Worcester – 25% paycut

8. Bristol Bears have confirmed paycut but amount has not been disclosed

9. Barcelona players and Atletico Madrid’s coaching staff and players will undergo 70% paycut

English Premier League, considered as the most cash rich league is yet to confirm paycut. However, The UK Govt. has proposed  the league to consider paycuts. On the other hand, Gimnasia’s coach Diego Maradona has offered for a paycut.

Apart from these, many other international athletes are supporting the global cause with whopping amount of contributions. On the other side, international cricket boards, PCB and South Africa Cricket will not deduct any amount from salary purse. Whereas ECB and BCCI are yet to confirm.
