UCL 2020-21 Matchday 2 Spotlight – Barca-Juve face-off in a mouthwatering contest

In the second-half of Matchday 2 in the UEFA Champions League 2020-21, Group G will stage a mouthwatering contest between Barcelona and Juventus at Turin on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, fans will be missing out on the much-anticipated face-off between the two matadors from either side, i.e., Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese was diagnosed positive for the second time. As a result, the Juventus ace striker is ruled out of the game against his ‘old foes’.

The other important players to miss out on the game due to injury for Juventus are Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro and Matthijs de Ligt; which is a massive blow for the Italian club’s defensive line.

Barca, on the contrary, will miss out on the services of ‘El Principe’ Gerard Pique. With Samuel Umtiti short of match fitness and Marc-Ter Stegen’s absence, the defence unit featuring Ronald Araujo, Sergino Dest, Clement Lenglet, Neto and Jordi Alba have their task cut-out.

The player to watch out for in the Barca camp is undoubtedly an in-form Ansu Fati. He is expected to pair up with Messi, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezeman.

Miralem Pjanic is slated to feature against his former side in Barca colours. It will be interesting to see how he pairs up with Frankie de Jong in the midfield.

The two sides are coming off impressive wins against minnows Ferencvaros and Dynamo Kyiv in UCL. Therefore, both Barca and Juve should be high on confidence.

In the absence of Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, Alvaro Morata, Aaron Ramsey have to share the workload in the final third.

They will be supported by Federico Chiesa, Rodrigo Bentancur, Adrian Rabiot and Juan Cuadrado. The backline is expected to be formed by Danilo, Merih Demiral and Leonardo Bonucci.

Moreover, the Catalans are freshly coming off a 1-3 defeat in the El Clasico against arch-rivals Real Madrid. Whereas, Juventus, without Ronaldo, shared a point with Verona in the by-gone weekend.

Overall, the game will force the fanatics to grab the popcorn and sit-back for some enthralling soccer action.
