It was during the Cricket World Cup 2019 that Global Sports Fan met a new name & face of passion. Fandom really has no age, class or creed just reshaped and resounded with the cheers of 87 years old granny, Charulata Patel, who sat on her wheelchair and blew trumpets in support of team India at the Ind Vs Ban World Cup match in Edgbaston.
Sooner the few seconder screen space took fire among social media flashing Charulata Patel with her trumpet, and ICC was quicker to flash it too. After beating Bangladesh on the grounds of Edgbaston, UK, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma walked up to the granny to seek her blessings. Pictures went viral as the Granny was worth a million hearts with both her cheeks painted in tricolor. After completing the Global Sports Fan Awards’ first edition on the grounds of Manchester, Granny was surely the awardee for the next edition as the organisers spotted her in the stands.
