Eden Park, 24th January 2020: India defeats New Zealand by 6 wickets in the opening T20I match held at New Zealand’s Eden Park today. After the World Cup 2019 loss, Indian fans looked up to the match with fiery eyes and concluded on a victorious note.

India Vs New Zealand and Virat Kohli Vs Kane Williamson is a superb reversal of the World Cup 2019 match. Indian fans then came out in distress, aghast and upset and New Zealand enjoyed their win on the grounds of United Kingdom. Today, on the grounds of New Zealand, the home team is stunned with their defeat to India. The initial reaction of fans on the Indian playing XI line up was distasteful, especially with the positioning of Shreyas Iyer. The ground’s size of Eden Park, Auckland, was criticized too which is claimed to be New Zealand’s largest Cricket ground. However, as the match progressed, the Indian side that bowled initially restricted New Zealand to 204 and then scored a winning streak.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul made quick fifties while Virat Kohli settled for 45. With 1-0 lead against the Black Caps, India could manage a celebratory opening in the five match series at Auckland.

Shreyas Iyes memes were quick to surface on social media post the playing XI list but his performance made him the Man of the Match today. His performance not only let the India side celebrate on the opening day of the T20 International series but also controlled the questioning remarks on Virat Kohli’s team selection and positioning.

  •   FRI 31/1 – 12:30 PM IST 4th T20, (N) at Wellington.
  •  SUN 2/2 – 12:30 PM IST 5th T20, (N) at Mount Maunganui.
