Tokyo 2020 is all set with preaching “Hope Lights our Way”

 

Tokyo : The Olympics is the pinnacle of any sporting event that hosts hundreds of countries from all around the world. With Tokyo 2020 even less than a year away, Tokyo is preparing its second stint with organizing Olympics in full swing. Having received more than 5,00,000 applications for bearing the torch in Torch Relay, the response from fans is overwhelming.

The Tokyo Olympic committee that opened the invitation in June this year to participate in the Olympic Torch Relay have received 5,35,717 applications from the public for 10,000 positions to accommodate torch bearers. The Presenting Partners and Prefectural Task Forces will select prospective Olympic torchbearers based on the information submitted by applicants, and forward their recommendations to Tokyo 2020.

 

 

The Torch Bearing ceremony embarks the beginning of this quadrennial event that picks its historic flames & meaning from Greece. The Torch Relay for Tokyo 2020 will be covering 47 prefectures in Japan completing the journey in 121 days. Promoting “Hope Lights Our Way”, The Torch will be the integral activity to create excitement and awareness surrounding Tokyo.   

The lighting ceremony is always conducted at the Temple of Hera, Olympia, Greece. With promoting hope and light, the slogan for Tokyo 2020 Torch Relay is “Hope Lights our Way”. While this is an age old practice that is considered as the most sacred act and is taken forward as legacy, the Olympic flame also reflects positivity encouraging the values of human being that is to be followed at each time. Sports is not just about competing with each other but also following sportsmanship that makes it imperative to focus on the core values of a human and there, the Olympic flames enlighten all the participants and the viewers.
