Australia’s Test captain Tim Paine, along with Matthew Wade, have been put under isolation in the aftermath of a sudden outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in Adelaide on Monday.

Meanwhile, Ashton Agar and Cameron Green are also slated to miss out on the upcoming ODI series against India, starting November 27 at Sydney.

Both Agar and Green were on their way back from South Australia, which hosted the early rounds of the Sheffield Shield (2020-21) competition. The duo was immediately advised to observe isolation due to the outbreak.

The Aussie duo were on their way back to South Australia which hosted the preliminary rounds of the Sheffield Shield (2020-21) tournament. Then, the two were immediately put into isolation due to the unexpected outbreak.

The Indian players who landed in Sydney a few days back will remain in quarantine until November 26. Also, the sudden outbreak has raised questions over the Test series opener at the Adelaide Oval, which starts on November 26.

“There is ongoing monitoring but that’s the end of the story,” a Cricket Australia (CA) official was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald.

“Everyone knows they have got to be adaptable … you literally have to take it day by day. I know everyone is trying to plan ahead but … you have got to be open-minded and take it as it is,” vice-captain Pat Cummins affirmed.

In the event of Adelaide not being able to host the series opener, board officials are looking at Sydney as a possible venue to host the game.

“In the very unlikely event this should happen we will always be there to help cricket,” the Chairman of re-constituted Venues New South Wales, Tony Shepherd added.
