Becomes First Ever Indian to Reach the Coveted International Boxing Championship Tournament
Ekaterinburg, Russia : Boxer Amit Panghal etches history becoming the first ever Indian to reach the finals of World Boxing Championship 2019. Secures Silver medal paving way to Gold glory for India.
Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossinov played with strength & technique but failed to edge past India’s Amit Panghal in the semifinal bout of AIBA World Boxing Championship 2019. Winning the bout with a split decision of 3:2 Panghal played a tactically winning bout with great balance of defense and attack. Already etching glory for India by becoming the first Indian to make it to the finals of World Boxing Championship, Amit Panghal’s medal color will tighten the grip for Olympics 2020.
Panghal will now have to prove his mettle at the Olympic qualification round to book his berth for Olympics 2020. There will be 5 qualification events for Boxing. 186 men and 100 women will be vouching to secure their berth at the Tokyo Olympics.
