The 2019 Senior World Wrestling Championship is up for grabbing 30 world titles with top six finishers in each category to book their berth for Tokyo Olympics 2020. With more than 950 wrestlers participating from 101 nations, 18 weight categories are open for Olympic 2020.

The World Wrestling Championship, happening every year has a special status reserved for its 2019 edition as it locks the berth for the most coveted sporting event, the Olympics 2020. With 18 Olympic weight categories, 101 nations will be vouching with their best of wrestlers to secure the top six spot. The Indian contingent, considered as one of the strongest has sent 30 wrestlers in Olympic and Non Olympic categories who will be putting their strongest performance in Worlds.

Rahul Aware – 61 kg : Hailing from Maharashtra, the hub of Wrestling in India, Rahul Aware has secured the top four spot and is currently seeded at No.2 in 61kg weight category. With a Gold at the recently concluded Yasar Dogu and Bronze at the Asian Championships, Rahul bears high hopes dominating his weight grade in international spheres.

Bajrang Punia – 65 kg : Seeded at No.1 position in international freestyle wrestling square, Punia is revered for completing three different competitions in 14 days and reigning all of them ahead of the World Championship’19. Bajrang not only is a strong gold medal contender for the World Championships, but is also the strongest hope for securing a medal in Olympics 2020.

Deepak Punia – 86 kg : The Rising star of Wrestling, Deepak Punia created historic moments for India with winning the Junior World Championship Title after 18 years. Punia is an emerging sensation from Haryana. Hailing from a family of farmers, Punia remains undefeated on the mat with encapsulating his learning from Chhatrasal Stadium, New Delhi.

Seema Bisla – 50 kg : Took wrestling in 53kg weight category but later on shifted to 50 kg. Closer to World Champion Bronze Medalist Pooja Dhanda, Seema takes all her learning with the Worlds star. Bagged Gold medal at the Yasar Dogu and clinched No.2 spot in the seedings.
