Arch-rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are due to lock horns once again at Old Trafford on Sunday on the second leg of Matchday 7 in Premier League.
The contest is expected to be high-octane with a rich traditional rivalry between the two sides. United is coming off a triumphant performance over RB Leipzig in the Champions League. They welcomed their German competitors with a 5-0 drubbing.
Coming in late into the second half, Marcus Rashford completed a brilliant hattrick, helping the Red Devils to a memorable European win.
However, their PL journey this season has been dismal. MUFC are currently placed at 15th in the points table, which is their worst start in the 48 years.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men would want to forget the humiliating defeats against Tottenham Hotspurs and Crystal Palace. They put on a better defensive show a clean sheet against Chelsea during the goalless draw last week.
Mikel Arteta’s side had to face a 1-0 defeat in their encounter against Leicester City last weekend. The Gunners would want to make amends of their performances, looking at the recent head to head records against United.
Arsenal will be devoid of the services from Gabriel Martinelli, Calum Chambers, David Luiz and Rob Holding who are recuperating with injuries.
United’s attack will be missing out of contributions from Anthony Martial, who is currently facing suspension. Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard are expected to miss out due to injury.
It will be interesting to see how Arsenal’s new signing Thomas Partey will pair up with Granit Xhaka and Dani Cabellos in the midfield.
Meanwhile, all eyes will be on United’s attacking front featuring Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes and Rashford.
The encounter between the arch-rivals will prove to be the acid test for the backline of the two sides. Of-late, Arsenal and United’s defensive combinations have been put into scrutiny.
Overall, the game is slated to be a blockbuster, with fans gearing up for the mouthwatering affair.
