Premier League Matchday 7 Roundup - Arsenal secures win at Old Trafford; Spurs move second on the table

The seventh matchday of the Premier League 2020-21 treated fans with some lip-smacking football contests. The most notable one being the clash between arch-rivals Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils, with their 0-1 loss against the Gunners, have now failed to win at home in their last six PL games.

Arsenal appeared a serious outfit, with the likes of Thomas Partey and Mohd. El-Nenny linking up brilliantly with their forwards.

Constant pressure put on United made Paul Pogba commit a foul in the box, which was ruled as a penalty. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted from the spot in the 69th minute to help the visitors grab three important points. Undoubtedly, Arsenal’s new signing, Partey, was the player of the match with his superb statistics.

The Ghanaian midfielder dominated with 93% pass accuracy, 100% dribble success (3/3), 12 ball recoveries, and 3/3 take-ons.

In London, Tottenham Hotspurs looked elite with some fabulous build-up play from their new signings. Both, Harry Kane (13’)(P) and Gareth Bale (73’) completed 199 career goals in both club and international football, during their 2-1 win over Brighton.

Moreover, the blockbuster contest of the weekend came from Birmingham where Aston Villa and Southampton were engaged in a seven-goal thriller.

For the visitors, James Ward-Prowse was simply sensational as he converted twice through free kicks from just outside the box in the 33rd and 45th minute.

Strikes from Janik Vestergaard (20’) and Danny Ings (58’) took Southampton’s lead to 4-0. However, Jack Grealish inspired an incredible turnaround with an assist to Tyrone Mings in the 62nd minute. In the dying moments of the game, Grealish helped his team win a penalty in the 90th minute, which Ollie Watkins converted from the spot.

Later, in the 7th minute of additional time, Grealish registered his name in the score-sheet with a superb goal. In the end, Villa had to settle for a 3-4 defeat but won several hearts while staging their comeback.
