New Delhi, Nov 21 (ISF): Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-Ul-Haq has finally opened up on the controversial dismissal of Sourav Ganguly in the Chennai Test between India and the Green Brigade back in 1991.

In a conversation with ace India skinner Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube show ‘DRS With Ash’, Inzamam, 50, admitted that Ganguly’s catch was indeed doubtful after the former asked him to throw light on the controversial incident.

“In that Chennai match, Sourav Ganguly hit a drive; the ball went to the silly point where Moin Khan claimed the catch. Till date we don’t know if it was out or not out. The cameras were not that good in those days. Tell us the truth, whether it was out,” Ashwin asked the former Pakistan skipper.

Replying to Ashwin, Inzamam said there were two fielders involved in the incident — Azhar Mehmood and Moin Khan.

The 50-year-old said the ball first hit Mehmood after which Moin caught it.

However, Inzamam went on to add that he can’t clearly explain about it as Azhar was not featuring in the Chennai Test and was substituted in the second innings in his place.

Later, when Ashwin and Inzamam were discussing the match finishing abilities of former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad, the latter also showered praise on former India skipper M.S. Dhoni, recalling the charismatic India skipper’s famous knock in the final of 2011 World Cup.

“The way Dhoni came in to bat at No. 4 in the World Cup 2011, he had self-belief that he can deliver when it was required. I respect these kinds of players. They are the true sportsmen,” expressed the former Pakistan skipper.
