American Athletes & Fans Unite to Observe Two Mins. Silence for India born American Sheriff
Houston : Houston Texans Football match was about to begin following the national anthem at the NRG Stadium on Sunday when suddenly the pictures of a deceased Indian American Sheriff was flashed on the LED panels. The next moment, gush of silence remained in existence for 120 seconds. The Stadium filled with American football fans paid tribute to Lt. Sheriff Sandeep Dhaliwal.
Sandeep Dhaliwal, the first ever Sikh to become a Harris County Sherrif’s Office Deputy was shot dead on duty by a passerby who was being patrolled during regular checks. Considered as the Hero in the County, Sandeep gave a special stature to the Sikh community by making them proud being the first ever Sikh to join the Deputy office maintaining the Sikh parameters of wearing a turban and a beard.

70,000 fans & athletes were stunned with grief on recollecting the moments inside the stadium right before the Texans Games on a Sunday. Dhaliwal’s formal ceremony has been scheduled for 2nd October, Wednesday that will be broadcasted LIVE at the agency’s Facebook page and would also be streamed to the large screens of Cy-Fair FCU Stadium that has a capacity of 11,000 fans. For the first time ever, the country of America is observing heartfelt homage to an Indian American Sikh who was shot dead on duty. This also marks the existentiality of “sportsmanship” that prevailed during the Sunday match. Considering the large capacity of stadiums, the authority have allowed to broadcast the ceremony in stadiums along with making it LIVE on facebook page.
