Great Sports Fans are not always humans. Pollok FC has a history in support as Labradors are die hard fan of the sport too!
Glasgow: Scottish Football club ‘Pollok FC’ has a legacy in having huge support from non-human fans. Since 1979 the club has a fan following of dogs who have a special seat allotted in stadiums to support the team.
In 1979 it was Sancho and in 2019 it is Yardley. The commonality is that both are dogs by species and greatest fan by passion. Fandom has truly got no religion, no language and no face or species too. If you’ve got passion you can be the one! Sancho and Yardley are doing the same.
Dogs are considered to be the most intelligent animals who can relate to a human mind and smell the emotions. The emotions of a dog works in tandem with that of a human. The trick works in sports too ! Pollok fan John always visited the stadiums with his dog called Sancho. When the team wins both celebrate and when it loses, both retaliate. John used to take Sancho for a walk where Junior Pollok team used to train. Eventually, Sancho became a super fan and John used to believe that he might be the ‘greatest fan of the century’.

After 40 years, it seems like a reincarnation of Sancho. Yardley, yet another fan of Pollok possess the same passion for the same team, ‘Pollok FC’. Ned Zelic, former Australian footballer was quick to share the pictures of Yardley as he was sitting in the stand watching the game intensely. Yardley is loved by all the players and have also featured in Pollok’s promotional videos.

The passion possessed by Yardley reminds the team of Sancho who was a die hard fan too. While these kinds of fans are rare to find it is even rarer to see same fan having same level of passion for the same team ‘Pollok FC’.
