Mumbai, Nov 21 (ISF): Former India first class cricketer Raghunath Chandorkar achieved a rare milestone on Saturday as he turned hundred years old, becoming only the third Indian cricketer to complete a century of birthdays.
Featuring for Maharashtra (1943-44 to 1946-47) and Bombay between 1950-51, Chandorkar played seven first class games. The wicket-keeper batsman had scored 155 runs from the seven games, averaging 15.50.
He was also involved in three catches and two stumpings besides scalping couple of wickets from those seven games through his leg-spin.
Significantly, Prof. DB Deodhar (1892-1993) and Vasant Raiji (1920-2020) are the only other Indian cricketers to complete 100 birthdays.
According to reports, Chandorkar, who has been bedridden for the last six years, presently lives a quiet life in the suburb of Mumbai.
